Is the shop heated? Air conditioned?

There is heaters in the shop but no air conditioning.

What is the size of the team I’d be working with?

Our service department in Lincoln consists of 8 team members.

What are the shop hours and what are the shift timeframes?

Monday - Friday 7:30 a.m. - 8 p.m. Saturdays 8 a.m. - Noon 7:30 - 4 - first shift 11:30 - 8 - second shift

What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?

All OEM Specialty and heavy duty tools are provided for staff to share as needed. We require our techs to provide their own set of tools up to half inch drive.

What type of break room facility is provided?

Our break room is air conditioned with big screen tv, fridge, microwave for everyone to share.

How many bays does your shop have?

15 bays

How many repair orders do you average per month?

150 RO per month

What is your parts ordering process?

We use an online workflow system, where our technicians communicate via Assist to order parts for their specific repairs.

What is your policy on side work?

Outside employment is fine as long as it is not a conflict of interest with RDO Truck Centers.

Are there any other unique features of the work environment worth noting?

$250 annual safety boot allowance Prescription Safety Glasses are provided if needed. Window-paned shop doors that provide an abundance of natural light.

Do you offer any skills training or continuing education opportunities?

We partner with our OEM Manufacturers to provide ongoing training opportunities to our technicians. Mack and Volvo offer a variety of online and in person training to help upskill our technicians.

Can you describe opportunities for career growth at your business?

We provide a number of opportunities for career growth. As an organization, we understand that career growth means something different to everyone. Our managers meet regularly with their employees to help identify areas for growth.

Can you describe your performance review process?

We do performance reviews twice a year. It is very a conversational meeting with managers.

What type of safety training is required?

We do monthly safety meetings at our dealerships. The topics covered ranges monthly.

Can you describe how Techs work with and mentor younger techs?

We value mentoring the next generation of our workforce. We have Access Your Future Service Internships that provide students enrolled in a diesel technology program paid learning opportunities. For this position, our interns are partnered with a mentor that helps coach.

How does your shop get involved with the local community?

We are successful because of the communities that we are involved in. With that in mind, we take every opportunity to give back to our community. Examples: RDO Caters Tators, an local philanthropic event that raises money for a charitable organization every year, helping out with local school drives.

Do you do anything with local high schools or tech schools to encourage more students to enter the profession?

We put a large focus on encouraging the next generation of technicians. We are involved with almost every local school's trade classes. We participate in local advisory boards, guest lecture/speak, participate in career fairs and more!

Where do you see the shop in five years?

Adapting to the knew technology that Mack releases.

Do you have an application form and how long does it typically take to complete?

We have an online application form. If you have a resume completed, it takes less than 10 minutes to complete.

Do you phone screen applicants before doing in-person interviews?

Our hiring managers will typically reach out to visit with you prior to doing an in-person interview.

What do your in-person interviews entail?

Visiting with Service Manager and shop foreman about your experience, touring our facilities, and getting a better understanding of our work environment.

We do background checks and drug screenings prior to hiring an applicant.

A Level Technician Pay Range: $35.00 - $45.00/hour

We pay hourly but offer efficiency bonus's that provide an opportunity to earn more on a monthly basis.

C Level Technician Pay Range: $20.00 - $25.00/hour

We pay hourly but offer efficiency bonus's that provide an opportunity to earn more on a monthly basis.

B Level Technician Pay Range: $25.00 - $35.00/hour

We pay hourly but offer efficiency bonus's that provide an opportunity to earn more on a monthly basis.

Lube Technician Pay Range: $20.00 - $25.00/hour

We pay hourly but offer efficiency bonus's that provide an opportunity to earn more on a monthly basis.

Student Tech / Apprentice Pay Range: $20.00 - $22.00/hour

We pay hourly but offer efficiency bonus's that provide an opportunity to earn more on a monthly basis.

We offer three Blue Cross Blue Shield of ND and 1 United Healthcare medical benefits options to choose from. Plus you can open an FSA or HSA depending on the plan you choose.
