Under The Hood

Is the shop heated? Air conditioned?

All lunch rooms and office spaces have air conditioning. Our shop is fully enclosed keeping the shop semi cool at all times. We do have fans around the shop for the techs to utilize if and when needed.

What is the size of the team I’d be working with?

Professional Fleet Maintenance has a team of 12 but we are always looking to expand our team to provide more opportunities for our crew.

What are the shop hours and what are the shift timeframes?

Our hours of operation are Monday - Friday from 8 am - 6 pm. Our mobile technicians work Saturdays but are in a rotation where they receive every other Saturday off. Our in-house technicians are not required to work on Saturdays but do have the option available to them if they would like.

What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?

Professional Fleet Maintenance has almost every tool you would need to complete any repair. The technician is required to sign out each tool and return it to the toolbox by the end of the day.

What type of break room facility is provided?

Our break room is an enclosed space that is air-conditioned. Our lunch room offers a refrigerator that has a freezer attached, an ice machine and a water cooler, a microwave, smart TV, and plenty of counter space to make our team feel at home.

How many bays does your shop have?

Our shop has 6 bays.

How many repair orders do you average per month?

Professional Fleet Maintenance is always trying to gain clientele while offering both mobile and in-house services. A rough estimate of repair orders being completed monthly is approximately 250.

What is your parts ordering process?

Step 1 is would verify the parts needed with the technician Step 2 communicate with local vendors using VIN numbers for accuracy Step 3 Get approval from customer from customer on parts pricing Step 4 Cut a PO to a local vendor for parts delivery or pick up Step 5 Verify parts accuracy once parts are delivered

What is your policy on side work?

To ensure the highest quality and safety Professional Fleet Maintenance does not promote side work.

Are there any other unique features of the work environment worth noting?

Professional Fleet Maintenance offers a family-friendly work environment that is continuously trying to find ways to improve our work environment. We like to find ways to keep the environment fun and exciting by offering employee nights out, bonuses, and random contests.

Do you offer any skills training or continuing education opportunities?

Yes, we offer online classes sponsored by Rechtien International.

Can you describe opportunities for career growth at your business?

Professional Fleet Maintenance will mentor newer technicians to give them the opportunity to receive hands-on training while having assistance from an experienced technician. Professional Fleet Maintenance also informs technicians of any upcoming webinars for training.

Can you describe your performance review process?

Our performance reviews are done privately with each employee, we have a document that rates each skill's performance. Rating between 1-5 (1 being a weakness and 5 exceeding expectations.) We also include sections that give the employees the opportunity to say how we can improve as a team, employee goals, and what they would like to improve on giving us an opportunity to assist each employee to overcome their weakness.

What type of safety training is required?

Professional Fleet Maintenance has multiple meetings throughout the year in regard to safety. Safety is our top concern.

Can you describe how Techs work with and mentor younger techs?

Professional Fleet Maintenance strives to set up employees for success. We have many technicians who are more than willing to mentor any technician who is willing to learn. Not only will other technicians be willing to help but our service advisor are extremely helpful in getting diagrams, communicating with outside sources to gain knowledge on the repair, and many other things. Here at Professional Fleet Maintenance we work as a team, we like to make it known that we are not here to only be coworkers, we are here to build relationships and friendships.

How does your shop get involved with the local community?

Professional Fleet Maintenance stays connected to local schools in case there is any shortages in school supplies for children. We also like to work with vocational schools for automotive technicians providing used tools and shop supplies when needed.

Do you do anything with local high schools or tech schools to encourage more students to enter the profession?

Professional Fleet Maintenance tries to stay involved with vocational schools there have been several times when Professional Fleet Maintenance would go out and speak directly with the students to give advice or even knowledge in the automotive field.

We prefer to do in-person interviews

Meetings are usually done by the manager or owner. Discussion includes the candidate's background, certifications, and what they are hoping for a career path

Yes, we do require a background check and drug testing before being hired.

No formal skill assessment. Skill assessment is done through the interview process

We typically get back within 24-48 hours.

Student Tech / Apprentice Pay Range: $18.00 - $25.00/hour

Hourly paid position

C Level Technician Pay Range: $18.00 - $25.00/hour

Hourly paid position based on experience and background

A Level Technician Pay Range: $25.00 - $40.00/hour

Commission based position based on certifications and skill set

B Level Technician Pay Range: $20.00 - $35.00/hour

Commission based position based on certifications and skill set
