Is the shop heated? Air conditioned?
Our shops are heated, and we have large shop fans for cooling. Also, we are very excited about our upcoming renovation late spring that will bring our customers and employees an innovative State-of-the-Art Shop.
What is the size of the team I’d be working with?
Our Kia team usually has 2 Service Advisors, 1 Service Manager, and a team of 4 to 5 technicians.
What are the shop hours and what are the shift timeframes?
Our Shops are open Monday-Friday 7:30 am-5 pm. Saturday: 7:30pm-4pm.
What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?
OEM Special Service Tools
What type of break room facility is provided?
Break Room with Microwave, Toaster Oven, and Fridge
How many bays does your shop have?
6 Bays at Kia. Our other shops have more bays.
How many repair orders do you average per month?
Around 400 on average.
What is your parts ordering process?
Request or put it through on the DMS and then submit it electronically.
What is your policy on side work?
Personal vehicles are allowed after hours or on breaks.
Are there any other unique features of the work environment worth noting?
A massive renovation is underway in late spring. We will have a beautiful new facility to work in. The shop will remain open during the renovation.
Do you offer any skills training or continuing education opportunities?
OEM web-based, and in-person training. Shop foreman on site.
Can you describe opportunities for career growth at your business?
Career growth for shop technicians comes with increased pay.
Can you describe your performance review process?
We currently do not have a formal performance review process.
What type of safety training is required?
Hazard communication, OSHA, Respiratory, and other safety training as needed for industry compliance.
Can you describe how Techs work with and mentor younger techs?
Our senior technicians and foreman will work with less experienced technicians
How does your shop get involved with the local community?
We work with local schools for career fairs and co-op opportunities.
Do you do anything with local high schools or tech schools to encourage more students to enter the profession?
Everyone here at Pride Kia of Lynn makes a special effort to be involved in organizations and charities that are near and dear to our hearts. Along with the Pride Chevy and Hyundai dealerships, we run a team at the Dana-Farber Jimmy Fund Cancer Walk. Locally, we also sponsor Revere Little League teams, youth soccer in Lynn and community football teams. These are just some of the ways that we show how thrilled we are to serve locals within our community.
Do you phone screen applicants before doing in-person interviews?
No, our initial phone call is usually done by our HR Manager to determine interest and to schedule the initial interview.
What do your in-person interviews entail?
In-person interviews are usually conversational to discuss our shop, your experience and automotive knowledge, and determine scheduling and compensation needs.
Do you perform background checks, drug screening, or personality tests before hiring an applicant?
Yes, background checks are run. There is a 7-year look back for any criminal history and a motor vehicle report. There is no drug screening or personality test. Technicians will need to have a valid driver's license with less than 3 moving violations in the past 3 years to be cleared to drive customer and lot vehicles. Our background process usually takes 1 to 3 days to complete.
Do you perform a skill assessment before hiring an applicant? If yes, what does it entail?
No, there is no skill assessment done before hiring an applicant.
After an in-person interview, approximately how long should I expect to wait for a rejection or an offer?
Decisions for technicians are usually made within 24 hours. Service Writers or Service BDC's can sometimes take up to a week to make the final offer, due to a larger number of applicants.
Approximately how long does the full hiring process take from submitting the application to the time of the hiring decision?
We like to keep our hiring process under 2 weeks for most positions. Most of the time it depends on the candidate's availability to come in for an interview. We offer flexible interview times as we understand that most experienced candidates are currently working full-time roles.
Is there anything else you’d like to mention about your hiring process?
It's not uncommon for us to make the hiring decision on the spot when we find the right person. When this happens HR will reach out to you to confirm the next steps, and compensation, and to begin your background process right away. She may sometimes schedule a tentative onboarding date with you in that same conversation. So that you can begin preparing for your first day.
Hourly Technician
Pay Range: $20.00 - $24.00/hour
We love to grow and develop talent from within. Entry level mechanics are considered hourly technicians. These mechanics are assigned work and given training opportunities according to their skill level. We have developed many of our longer tenured technicians from hourly mechanic to a Flat Rate Tech with a guarantee.
Flat RateTechnician
Pay Range: $65,000.00 - $160,000.00/year
We are always hiring experienced and skilled technicians as we continue to grow. For these technicians you may also be eligible to receive a sign on bonus of up to $5,000. There is also learning and development opportunities as well as options to expand and work at our other two shops.
