Under The Hood

Is the shop heated? Air conditioned?

The shop is both heated and air conditioned! It's nice and warm in the winter and cool in the summer!

What is the size of the team I’d be working with?

We have about 20 employees in total, which includes 6 techs and 2 helpers.

What are the shop hours and what are the shift timeframes?

Our hours are Monday through Friday 8:00am - 5:30pm and Saturday 8:30am - 5pm.

What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?

We have a vast array of shop tools and equipment. Including an extensive collection of diagnostic equipment including factory tools. We pride ourselves on making sure our technicians have the right tools to do the job in an efficient and safe manner.

What type of break room facility is provided?

We have a break room with all the usual amenities.

How many bays does your shop have?

There are nine lifts in the shop and room for several vehicles that require non-lift-related repairs.

How many repair orders do you average per month?

We are always busy with both private and fleet customers.

What is your parts ordering process?

Once our technicians perform a digital vehicle inspection and identify what parts are needed to complete a repair, our service writers handle parts ordering for approved work.

What is your policy on side work?

We handle this on a case-by-case basis with approval from management.

Do you offer any skills training or continuing education opportunities?

We are big proponents of training and utilize both internal and external training opportunities for our employees to both hone and enhance their capabilities. As needed, we host ASE test prep sessions for our technicians who are scheduled to take a certification exam. Also, we use an app based training program that keeps everyone engaged and learning.

Can you describe opportunities for career growth at your business?

We are keen on promoting from within. We have many success stories of employees who started in one position and quickly moved up. We work in a true team environment that encourages creativity and respect.

Can you describe your performance review process?

We follow standard protocols when doing performance reviews.

What type of safety training is required?

Safety is of the utmost importance to us. We have ongoing safety training on a regular basis as well as utilizing an LMS system to help fill in the gaps.

Can you describe how Techs work with and mentor younger techs?

We have mentored younger techs in the past. We generally find its best to pair them up with another tech and let them mirror him/her. The best way to learn in this industry is hands on. Many of the younger techs have gone on to have great careers in the automotive industry.

How does your shop get involved with the local community?

We donate to several charities and local institutions.

Do you do anything with local high schools or tech schools to encourage more students to enter the profession?

Not currently but we look forward to doing so in the future

Do you phone screen applicants before doing in-person interviews?

We like to setup a phone call to briefly explain what we're looking for and answer any superficial questions the applicant may have.

What do your in-person interviews entail?

Generally, our interviews are standard interviews with a question-and-answer-based approach.

Do you perform background checks, drug screening, or personality tests before hiring an applicant?

Yes we do.

Do you perform a skill assessment before hiring an applicant? If yes, what does it entail?

No, we do not perform skill assessments at this time.

After an in-person interview, approximately how long should I expect to wait for a rejection or an offer?

Generally it wouldn't be more then 48 hours.

Approximately how long does the full hiring process take from submitting the application to the time of the hiring decision?

Generally, a decision would be made within a few days.

Technician Pay Range: $23.00 - $35.00/hour

Compensation is based on experience, certification, and skill level.
