Northwest Imports - Technician Jobs in Austin, TX

About Us

“Perfection is not attainable, but if we chase perfection we can catch excellence” ― Vince Lombardi Northwest Imports was established in November 1984 by David Wostarek and Robert Chilek. At the time they were the Shop Foreman and Service Manager at the Porsche Audi dealer and were frustrated with the corporate restrictions that hindered them from delivering the best possible customer service. Thus Northwest Imports was born with its number one goal being to take care of the customer. Initially the focus was only on European cars such as Porsche, Audi, BMW, Mercedes and Volkswagen. Eventually Asian makes such as Toyota and Honda were added. Since then times have changed, Robert left the business to pursue other ambitions, David’s son Andrew became involved and the transition to the next generation has begun, but through it all vision has only become clearer. Today Northwest imports has evolved into a family owned business whose mission is still customer oriented, with a desire to build a family with our customers and team. We look forward to many more years of providing honesty, "excellence" and friendship to automotive service in Austin. If you are "chasing perfection" and you would like to be a member of a team that values you and the people we serve contact us today. David Wostarek

Over the next 18 to 24 months we plan to move into a larger facility. As long as space permits we will grow from the current 4 techs and apprentice to 8 to 10 techs. Service advisors will be added to facility smooth communication with customers. Support staff for marketing and other positions will also be a part of this process.

Do you have an application form and how long does it typically take to complete?

Not for initial phone interview, a name. phone number and years of experience in the automotive industry is sufficient. After our first conversation if we both agree you might be a fit then we would like you to fill out a form that will give us a little more information about you, your work history and references so we will have the information we need to make the quickest possible decision after a face to face meeting.

Do you phone screen applicants before doing in-person interviews?

Yes, see above.

What do your in-person interviews entail?

We like to take time to get to know each other, this includes meeting the whole team. We will start with a few questions to facilitate that. The communication will flow both ways since we want you to have any questions you have answered. Afterward you will be introduced to each team member and be free to talk with anyone you wish to. Remember for our team to preform at the top we all have to want to work together and that starts with relationship.

Do you perform background checks, drug screening, or personality tests before hiring an applicant?

You will be required to take a personality test since that helps us in determining who you will enjoy working next to. As long as you can provide 3 solid references a background check will not be done and if any of us get the impression you may be addicted to drugs it will likely be a non starter.

Do you perform a skill assessment before hiring an applicant? If yes, what does it entail?

No we rely on your word and that of your references.

After an in-person interview, approximately how long should I expect to wait for a rejection or an offer?

Usually within 24 hours unless there is a reference we have not heard back from.

Approximately how long does the full hiring process take from submitting the application to the time of the hiring decision?

This is very dependent on available time, yours and ours. Ideal conditions would be 3 to 5 days.
