Under The Hood

Is the shop heated? Air conditioned?

Both the old part and the new part are heated with radiant heating.

What is the size of the team I’d be working with?

You will be working with 6 Quick Lane technicians and 11-12 other main line technicians

What are the shop hours and what are the shift timeframes?

We open to receive customers at 7:30am. Techs should plan to start work at 8, you have a 1 hour lunch and we end the day at 5pm. Our advisors are here till 6pm to deliver vehicles back to our customers. We have no late nights, but are open on Saturdays to mainly perform oil changes, routine maintenance & light repairs.

What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?

We have a large array of special service tools, battery chargers, vehicle communication equipment and software. If you have your own lap top we will get the license necessary to run Ford diagnostic equipment on you pc. We just installed a new Hunter Alignment system and Maverick tire changer. We also supply most any shop supply you may need including batteries, rubber gloves, ect. ect.

What type of break room facility is provided?

We offer 2 different break rooms. Both are equipped with refrigerators and microwave ovens. We even have a chest freezer that, in the summer months is stocked with ice cream and popsicles.

How many bays does your shop have?

31 Bays including the New Hunter Hawkeye Elite system.

How many repair orders do you average per month?

On average between both locations, we generate about 1040 RO's per month.

What is your parts ordering process?

We have increased or parts inventory by more than $250,000.00. If parts have to be ordered if done so my 4pm will generally see them next morning for most things. If I can drive to get a part we need to get job done that day more than willing to do that.

What is your policy on side work?

We allow immediate family members vehicles in for work with necessary documentation.

Are there any other unique features of the work environment worth noting?

We are a certified EV Elite Dealer, we are one of the largest fleet dealers in the State of Michigan delivering routinely between 70-100 vehicles per month. We are also one of the few Roush Propane certified repair facilities in the state.

Do you offer any skills training or continuing education opportunities?

We offer paid factory training, product & equipment training on an as needed basis.

Can you describe opportunities for career growth at your business?

We want to set goals based on individual and employer needs. We tailor a training path that will constantly push the individual to that next level. Whether its State, ASE or Factory Certifications we will have a road map in place.

Can you describe your performance review process?

We have a quick 10 minute weekly meeting to discuss prior week and upcoming weeks plan. We do reviews every 4 months.

What type of safety training is required?

Your routine repair facility chemical and equipment training.

Can you describe how Techs work with and mentor younger techs?

With the Ford Sponsor our Student program we are always looking for young talent to pair with our Senior Master and Master Techs to inspire and nurture young talent.

How does your shop get involved with the local community?

We sit on the Advisor Board of Baker College Auto Diesel Institute. We work with local schools during teacher apperception week, donating mobile works packages to faculty & staff members. Donate to local school districts & organizations by sponsoring sports teams and cheerleading squads.

Do you do anything with local high schools or tech schools to encourage more students to enter the profession?

Unfortunately in our area we do not have any high school related auto or shop programs available.

Do you phone screen applicants before doing in-person interviews?

Not usually but can be arranged if candidate is a long ways away

What do your in-person interviews entail?

We want you to be comfortable, we are looking for technicians not runway models. Please come in what ever you are comfortable in. Our goal is to meet each other and get to know what things you are looking for in an employer

Do you perform background checks, drug screening, or personality tests before hiring an applicant?

This is not a normal practice

Do you perform a skill assessment before hiring an applicant? If yes, what does it entail?

No, skill assessment is done through the interview process

After an in-person interview, approximately how long should I expect to wait for a rejection or an offer?

Most of the time we will make an offer while prospect is still here.

Approximately how long does the full hiring process take from submitting the application to the time of the hiring decision?

The shortest time possible.

Automotive Technician Pay Range: $18.00 - $45.00/hour

We also offer structured production based bonus. Participate in Ford Top Techs

Automotive Lube Technician Pay Range: $14.00 - $16.00/hour

Hourly paid position. We also offer production & performance bonus
