Is the shop heated? Air conditioned?
The shop is heated by 3 forced air heaters. Several fans are used in warmer temperatures along with an open floor plan and 12 bay doors to cross ventilate the shop
What is the size of the team I’d be working with?
As of now their are 2 highly skilled technicians and 2 general service technicians. We employ a shop manager and 2 service writers along with a customer shuttle driver who can write service if needed and run for parts
What are the shop hours and what are the shift timeframes?
Shop and employee hours are 8am - 6pm Monday through Friday with an hour for lunch.
What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?
Too many to list. We have 2 Autel Ultra scan tools, Snap-on Zeus, Drive Pro and Tech 2 Scope/Scan Tools. The owner has a Pico Scope with diagnostic cart that is available.Many other specialty tools to get jobs done.
What type of break room facility is provided?
We have an air conditioned break room area with a lunch table, microwave and refrigerator.
How many bays does your shop have?
We have 12 bays in the main shop area. 11 racks and an alignment rack. We also have added a 12,000 lb drive on rack in an enclosed building extension
How many repair orders do you average per month?
Repair orders average approximately 450-500 per month.
What is your parts ordering process?
We use NAPA Tracs for internet based ordering as we are a NAPA Auto Care Center. We have a good relationship with many dealers and other suppliers to keep quality parts flowing for our techs. If something is needed in a hurry we won't hesitate to go and get it picked up.
What is your policy on side work?
We only allow work to be performed on employee vehicles and their immediate family during non business hours. There must be a repair order in place in the system before the vehicle is brought in with VIN number and repairs to be performed listed. Prior approval is required.
Are there any other unique features of the work environment worth noting?
We offer a good work environment and friendly atmosphere. We hire people that are a good fit for our culture and are willing to help each other in providing a good outcome for our customers. Technicians will have a main service advisor to work with to maintain consistency and productivity. No one is expected to know everything but a good attitude, open mind and willingness to learn sure goes a long way.
Do you offer any skills training or continuing education opportunities?
We are a NAPA Auto Care Center so we have access to their online training program which has a wide variety of topics and skill levels. ASE study guides are available along with pre-test offerings. In house training is provided to enhance knowledge and skills. As of now we subscribe to Today's Class which in a mobile format. Technicians, General Service and Service Advisors have access to their own area of training. Employees will be sent 4-6 questions a day in their area of service, Monday - Friday. It takes less than 3 - 5 minutes to complete. The real strength of the program is in their training areas within the app. Their are literally hundreds of subjects to choose from at increasing skill levels when an area is completed.
Can you describe opportunities for career growth at your business?
Being a small business with many long term employees somewhat limits job position growth. That said, we hope that the person we hire will grow in their position with us. Increasing skill level, knowledge and productivity will allow the employee to increase their pay over time.
Can you describe your performance review process?
After 90 days we will conduct a performance review.
What type of safety training is required?
A review of common safety concerns that are universal in the automotive repair industry will be performed. Proper hoist usage, working with chemicals and the use of safety glasses and location of fire extinguishers to name a few.
Can you describe how Techs work with and mentor younger techs?
As stated before we have a shop culture of people working together. Everyone is happy to assist someone in needing help or understanding. Our service advisors and technicians have many years of experience and can always jump in with incite to help mentor an employee.
How does your shop get involved with the local community?
Being a NAPA AutoCare Center and a member of the NAPA Local Business Development Group has given us several opportunities to give back to our local and Atlanta based needs. We have specifically worked with the Boy Scouts of America in building derby racers and large ramps to facilitate downhill racing at their Atlanta based Scout camp. We have raised money with several promotions to give back. We have also partnered with NAPA to help the Fallen Hero's Program helping their military families.
Do you do anything with local high schools or tech schools to encourage more students to enter the profession?
Kevin, one of the owners is on the Automotive Development Board of CITA. CITA stands for Cobb Innovation & Technology Academy in Cobb county. This facility and program offer several different career disciplines for the students of Cobb County High schools. Everything ranging from auto repair building trades, HVAC and surgical nursing to name a few of the many programs offered.
Do you phone screen applicants before doing in-person interviews?
Yes. We reach out to the applicant to pre-screen them to see if there is a potential fit for the job opening.
What do your in-person interviews entail?
We do an in person interview with applicants accessing their experience, skill level and prior training. We inquire about their prior job history and specific experiences. We discuss future goals and what they may feel are their strengths in this position. We ask them what they can bring to us as a team and company. An informal shop tour will be given to help the applicant vision their work area and available equipment.
Do you perform background checks, drug screening, or personality tests before hiring an applicant?
We are currently revising our requirements.
Do you perform a skill assessment before hiring an applicant? If yes, what does it entail?
We do not have a formal skill assessment but certain requirements will be discussed in the interview and questions about certain areas pertaining to their position will be asked.
After an in-person interview, approximately how long should I expect to wait for a rejection or an offer?
Usually 24-48 hours after the interview in most cases but can be offered a position after the interview.
Approximately how long does the full hiring process take from submitting the application to the time of the hiring decision?
Usually 1-3 days
Is there anything else you’d like to mention about your hiring process?
Applicants must have a current license and a good, insurable driving record to be hired.

Pay Range: $35.00 - $45.00/hour
This is a flat rate paid position based on skill and experience
