Shop is heated and also has A/C

What is the size of the team I’d be working with?

We currently have a shop of 17 technicians with a total of 6 service writers

What are the shop hours and what are the shift timeframes?

We are open M-F from 7-6 and Saturdays from 7-4. Saturdays are a rotating schedule for main shop technicians. Lube technicians will work every Saturday with having a day off during the week.

What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?

We do offer a start-up tool kit for qualified technicians. The main equipment that is used by all is the following: Alignment rack, tire machine, speed balancer, and parts washers.

What type of break room facility is provided?

We offer a small break room with a fridge and 2 microwaves, table, chairs

How many bays does your shop have?

We have a total of 21 service bays

How many repair orders do you average per month?

Between 1,100-1,200 a month.

What is your parts ordering process?

We use a system called X-time that we communicate between the service writers, technicians, parts department, and even our BDC. It is a relatively easy system to learn and use.

What is your policy on side work?

This is not allowed at our facility.

Are there any other unique features of the work environment worth noting?

Our company offers a year-long competition among all of our Dealerships (7). Prizes could include an all-inclusive trip to an Island, a cruise, Las Vegas are some of the past places employees have gone. Those winners are chosen off of the report card standings that are done every month. If you don't win the trip, you could still win some cash. 2nd tier employees get $500.00 in cash and 3rd tier gets $300.00 in cash. These winners are chosen at the end of the year and announced at our Kickoff party in early January. This contest if for Service writers, technicians, and parts counter personal.

Do you offer any skills training or continuing education opportunities?

We provide manufactured-specific training that the dealership covers. We pay for hotel stays, and reimbursement for food and gas as well. Most training is in Atlanta, Georgia.

Can you describe opportunities for career growth at your business?

We have had employees who have started out as porters and have either worked their way into the sales team or become sales managers. We have had porters transfer to being lube techs and then eventually getting trained and becoming a master tech.

Can you describe your performance review process?

We have a report card system that is reviewed monthly with all employees. This tracks how many hours you've turned, or for service writers how much total gross you have sold.

What type of safety training is required?

We have an outside company Crandall that does safety training.

Can you describe how Techs work with and mentor younger techs?

Younger techs that are brought on start out working with the group of Lube techs to learn how to do the basics on a vehicle, change oil, rotate tires, look over a vehicle etc. After time, they will get paired up with a main shop tech to learn more extensive training and learn more hands-on with bigger jobs, replacing engines, transmissions, and some electrical.

How does your shop get involved with the local community?

We work with Boys Scouts of America, City of Hope, The Salvation Army, Harvest Hope, and the University of South Carolina.

Do you do anything with local high schools or tech schools to encourage more students to enter the profession?

We currently work with the SCADA program.

Where do you see the shop in five years?

We are looking to grow and have 2 work shifts a day shift and a night shift. With that goal in mind, we will be hiring at least 2 more service writers and 5-8 Technicians. The night shift would primarily be internal work which consists of working on used cars and getting them ready for sale as well as performing PDI's, pre-delivery inspections on new cars, and also getting them ready for sale.

Do you have an application form and how long does it typically take to complete?

We do, and it typically takes about 5 min to fill out

Do you phone screen applicants before doing in-person interviews?

Yes, to get a gauge of the candidate's interest level. Basic questions about the position, and the candidate's background

What do your in-person interviews entail?

We want to know about the potential candidate, their hobbies, passions, and how they would be a good fit for our dealership. We also talk about what kind of tools they have, and do they have a laptop. Things of that nature

Do you perform background checks, drug screening, or personality tests before hiring an applicant?

Yes

Do you perform a skill assessment before hiring an applicant? If yes, what does it entail?

No. Skill assessment is done through the interview process

After an in-person interview, approximately how long should I expect to wait for a rejection or an offer?

Within 3 days after all candidates have been interviewed and the correct person has been chosen

Approximately how long does the full hiring process take from submitting the application to the time of the hiring decision?

About 7-10 days depending on applicants and interviews

A Level Technician Pay Range: $30.00 - $40.00/hour

This is a flat rate paid position. We offer a pay scale bump when hitting 40-49hrs which would give you a $5.00 bump/hr and if you hit 50 and above you would get a $10.00/hr bump increasing your hourly pay.

B Level Technician Pay Range: $22.00 - $29.00/hour

This is a flat rate paid position. We offer a pay scale bump when hitting 40-49hrs which would give you a $5.00 bump/hr and if you hit 50 and above you would get a $10.00/hr bump increasing your hourly pay.

C Level Technician Pay Range: $17.00 - $21.00/hour

This is a flat rate paid position. We offer a pay scale bump when hitting 40-49hrs which would give you a $5.00 bump/hr and if you hit 50 and above you would get a $10.00/hr bump increasing your hourly pay.

Lube Technician Pay Range: $13.00 - $16.00/hour

With this position your are paid hourly and if certain goals are reached there is a potential bonus each week.

Service Advisor Pay Range: $35.00 - $100.00/hour

Service writers are paid off of their total gross and their percentages are calculated off of their CSI scores and as a store for service.
