Is the shop heated? Air conditioned?

The shop is well-heated and has multiple cool cells to help beat the heat of summer

What is the size of the team I’d be working with?

There are two top-rated techs and one service advisor

What are the shop hours and what are the shift timeframes?

Monday thru Thursday 7:30am to 12:00pm and 1:00pm to 5:00pm Friday 7:30am to 12:00pm and 1:00pm to 3:00pm Saturday and Sunday Off

What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?

Most specialty tools and Equipment are provided by the shop you would need the basic hand tools and air or electric wrenches are needed for speed

What type of break room facility is provided?

There is no appointed break room but we have a refrigerator and microwave available

How many bays does your shop have?

The shop has four inside bays and one outside shelter with a 15,000lb lift for larger trucks

How many repair orders do you average per month?

At the present time, we average about seventeen repair orders a week, at four to five hours per ticket due to large repairs. We are moving into more maintenance, brakes, and smaller repairs to move the car count up. This is the position we are trying to fill

What is your parts ordering process?

We use digital inspection for every vehicle coming through the shop. Autovitals is the provider of the digital inspection. The tablet is where parts are requested and ordered by the service advisor.

What is your policy on side work?

We prefer that no side work is done, but as long as it doesn't affect the shop, nothing is said.

Are there any other unique features of the work environment worth noting?

We have a standard shop layout. The techs in the shop decide what works best for them and work together to create the optimal situation for the most efficient work space.

Do you offer any skills training or continuing education opportunities?

Transmission training is standard procedure here and we encourage any extended training.

Can you describe opportunities for career growth at your business?

We are a NAPA service center and a Advantage Auto Service center. Both of these offer a range of classes and opportunities for advancement. Any approved furthering of education is welcome and the general expense is covered by the shop.

Can you describe your performance review process?

We have a plan set up for growth provided to us through ATI that allows us to track progress and provide a pay plan for the growth.

What type of safety training is required?

Standard safety knowledge is expected and will be tested and checked.

Can you describe how Techs work with and mentor younger techs?

All techs work as a team. If help is needed, it is given, and each tech has the heart of a teacher.

How does your shop get involved with the local community?

N/A

Do you do anything with local high schools or tech schools to encourage more students to enter the profession?

Not currently

Do you phone screen applicants before doing in-person interviews?

Yes, a phone call lets each party get an idea of who they would be working with, and it helps to break the ice.

What do your in-person interviews entail?

Culture check is a huge part of an in-person interview. How someone will fit the culture of the shop matters. After that, the standard questioning of experience, knowledge, tools etc.

Do you perform background checks, drug screening, or personality tests before hiring an applicant?

Yes, this is standard practice

Do you perform a skill assessment before hiring an applicant? If yes, what does it entail?

No, but a full assessment of knowledge and skill is questioned thoroughly through the interview process

Usually, no more than a few days to a week

Approximately how long does the full hiring process take from submitting the application to the time of the hiring decision?

Approximately one to two weeks

Automotive Technician Pay Range: $33,000.00 - $100,000.00/year

Pay is figured on a base/flat rate. There are options available for hourly also for a limited time of training.
