Is the shop heated? Air conditioned?
Our shop is comfortably heated in the winter, and each mechanic/work bay has a porta cool during the summer.
What is the size of the team I’d be working with?
At J&J Fleet Service we are all a team. There is always someone to assist. That being said you could work alone or with 1 or more teammates.
What are the shop hours and what are the shift timeframes?
9:00am-5:30pm (Monday-Friday) Overtime and weekends available.
What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?
While we do require our technicians to have their own tools, we do have a tools available for use. Shop equipment includes: diagnostic tools, welders, jacks, sockets, specialty tools, etc. If it is needed for a job, we have it.
What type of break room facility is provided?
Locker room / Changing room
How many bays does your shop have?
6 Bays 5000 square foot
How many repair orders do you average per month?
200 plus
What is your parts ordering process?
Fill out a part request and hand it to the Foreman on shift. The Foreman will complete the process and parts will be received as soon as possible for technicians to complete repairs
What is your policy on side work?
For liability reasons we do not permit side work performed in the shop. We do allow employees to work on their own vehicles.
Are there any other unique features of the work environment worth noting?
We perform a large array of work from diagnostics to complete rehab jobs. There's always something different and exciting coming into the shop.
Do you offer any skills training or continuing education opportunities?
Ford, Cummins, ASE trainings avaiable
Can you describe opportunities for career growth at your business?
As you grow the pay scale increases as well as quarterly bonus programs
Can you describe your performance review process?
Each mechanic receives a 90-day review and then a yearly review. Each mechanic is graded on attendance, comebacks, growth on training, communication, and leadership
What type of safety training is required?
Standard safety training. MSDS. Forklift.
Can you describe how Techs work with and mentor younger techs?
A direct one-on-one relationship to help and explain policies and procedures to each customer.
How does your shop get involved with the local community?
Donation services
Do you do anything with local high schools or tech schools to encourage more students to enter the profession?
Yes several tech schools
Where do you see the shop in five years?
Growing into another location with a sales department for vehicles and parts
Do you have an application form and how long does it typically take to complete?
Yes, we have a basic application that takes less than 5 mins to complete.
Do you phone screen applicants before doing in-person interviews?
We like to engage in light phone conversation to see how interested the candidate is in the position while also trying to gauge their experience level.
What do your in-person interviews entail?
In person you will be asked questions on your experience and skill set, job performance and attendance. We like to get to know the candidate's career goals, and as a person to make sure they're a fit for the position they are applying for.

We do not perform formal skill assessment.

You can expect to hear from us within 2 days.
