On October 26, 1926 Horace G. Ilderton established Horace G. Ilderton Inc. (later known as Ilderton Dodge) on the corner of Commerce and Willowbrook Street, which is now Elm Street.
T. Carey Ilderton joined his father at the company in 1946 after returning from World War II. He encouraged his father to build what is now the Ilderton dealership on South Main Street. Soon after, they began purchasing adjoining properties for expansion. In 1972, Ilderton started an endeavor to sell and service vehicles equipped to transport the physically challenged. Ilderton Conversion Company was born and now sells and services wheelchair vans, helping people across the country regain their mobility and independence.
Ilderton is still to this day family managed, led by Tim and Steve Ilderton. Christopher, Catherine and John, the next generation of Ilderton's, are on site and involved in the day to day running of the dealership and are committed to upholding the quality and service that we are known for.

Under The Hood
Is the shop heated? Air conditioned?
Lower shop is heated and air conditioned. Diesel shop used car shop and alignment bay are heated with no air conditioning.
What is the size of the team I’d be working with?
We currently have 18 technicians which include used car techs, quick lube techs and diesel techs.
What are the shop hours and what are the shift timeframes?
Shop hours are Monday through Saturday 7:30am - 5pm or 8:00am - 5:30pm. We require technicians to rotate one Saturday a month.
What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?
The shop supplies specialty manufacturer tools, alignment rack, A/C equipment, tire machine and brake lathe.
What type of break room facility is provided?
We have an air-conditioned break room with vending machines, microwave, refrigerator, sink and stove.
How many bays does your shop have?
The main shop has 16 bays. Used car shop has 2 bays and 1 alignment bay. We also have 4 heavy duty diesel bays.
How many repair orders do you average per month?
We have a steady workflow of with roughly 1100 repair orders written per month.
What is your parts ordering process?
We have different ways of parts ordering, our main goal is to provide computer written MPI's per vehicle and have them sent to parts electronically for pricing and availability. We sometimes also hand write quotes for vehicles by entering part requested asking for prices and availability.
What is your policy on side work?
Side work is only allowed on immediate family vehicles and also requires a Repair Order from a Service Advisor while the vehicle is in the shop.
Are there any other unique features of the work environment worth noting?
We offer weekly cash payouts for services performed on most upsales. We also have weekly tech games for all who have participated in the upsale program. That amount can be the percentage sum of all who participated that week.
Do you offer any skills training or continuing education opportunities?
We offer Stellantis Chrysler certified training either by computer or hands on in class with the amount equal to the hourly pay rate.
Can you describe opportunities for career growth at your business?
We are fully committed in supporting our staff across the company with furthering their knowledge. We encourage cross training and typically promote from within.
Can you describe your performance review process?
All employees receive a 90-day new hire performance review where we give the employee feedback on how they have adjusted to their new role and ask the employee for feedback on their experience thus far also. We then conduct annual performance reviews. Continuous feedback and open communication are always highly encouraged also.
What type of safety training is required?
Basic safety training. We provide Forklift training if needed.
Can you describe how Techs work with and mentor younger techs?
We have different classifications of technicians depending on experience and qualifications, lower seeded techs are sometimes paired with senior techs to learn and advance in their knowledge.
How does your shop get involved with the local community?
We advertise and help our community by offering our services to High Point University
Students who travel long distance road trips to get to and from college on a daily basis. Making their vehicles safe for travel. We also help the community through United Way campaigns.
Do you do anything with local high schools or tech schools to encourage more students to enter the profession?
Not yet but this is something we would like to pursue in the future.
Do you phone screen applicants before doing in-person interviews?
Yes, we do an initial phone screen that is typically 20 minutes to get to know you!
What do your in-person interviews entail?
A tour of the shop and of course, questions to help us understand your qualifications. We welcome all questions you may have.
Do you perform background checks, drug screening, or personality tests before hiring an applicant?
Once an offer of employment has been extended and accepted, we require a background check and drug screen. Must have a valid driver's license.
Do you perform a skill assessment before hiring an applicant? If yes, what does it entail?
Currently we do not conduct a skills assessment. We will be implementing this in the near future.
After an in-person interview, approximately how long should I expect to wait for a rejection or an offer?
Decisions are typically finalized the day after the interview. Maximum of 3 days.
Approximately how long does the full hiring process take from submitting the application to the time of the hiring decision?
Depends on several factor but on average the hiring process takes a week.

Pay Range: $17.00 - $38.00/hour
Based on skill level and certifications.
