The shop is heated but not air conditioned. The break room is air conditioned.

The team is around 6 - 10 people.
What are the shop hours and what are the shift timeframes?
The shop hours are 7 am to 4 pm Monday - Friday.
What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?
Larger specialty tools are provided by employer. Technicians are expected to have basic tools. $900 tool allowance annually p.
What type of break room facility is provided?
There is an air conditioned break room.
How many bays does your shop have?
The shop has 5 bays.
How many repair orders do you average per month?

What is your parts ordering process?
Submit Parts Orders via tablet system to Parts Co-Managers.
What is your policy on side work?
Ideal Crane does not allow side work to be done on company property but has no policy for work done on off time.
Are there any other unique features of the work environment worth noting?
Ideal Crane has 6 locations and offers a wide variety of units to work on.
Do you offer any skills training or continuing education opportunities?
Ideal puts a large emphasis on safety training and education which creates a culture where safety is a focus. Ideal provides manufacturer backed telehandler and mobile elevated work platform (MEWP) training and certification. Mechanics will receive training on compressed gas cylinders, hand and power tool safety, and general housekeeping. Ideal provides mechanics with additional upskill training through various manufacturers.
Can you describe opportunities for career growth at your business?
Ideal provides a on the job training and certifications allowing our mechanics to grow at their pace and take on more complicated work as they grow.
Can you describe your performance review process?
Performance reviews are done annually and new training opportunities are awarded to mechanics as they seem ready.
What type of safety training is required?
Our shop supplied tools have been equipped with appropriate guards. Training has been provided on hand and power tool safety along with a monthly tool allowance so they may purchase new tools as needed and keep those tools personally. We have put in place hazardous chemical rooms and cabinets across all of our shops and have created a QR code on our SDS areas for easy access to a chemical that may need to be researched. QR code cards are also provided in our mobile mechanic trucks for remote research as necessary. We have also reorganized our shop facilities to establish unobstructed walking paths and containment zones to ensure safety and efficiency.
Can you describe how Techs work with and mentor younger techs?
Techs work with coworkers and managers daily to mentor younger techs.
How does your shop get involved with the local community?
Ideal is very active in supporting organizations through sponsorships and other partnerships. There are many opportunities to get involved.
Do you do anything with local high schools or tech schools to encourage more students to enter the profession?
Ideal partners with high schools and Technical collages to provide exposure and training in the construction industry.
Is there anything else you’d like to mention about career development and community?
We are aware that not every person interested in the industry is going to come to us with the perfect skillset. Therefore, we have created introductory positions where we assist employees in their career to get to their goal. In recent years we have assisted employees in securing tens of thousands of dollars from organizations we are members of (Specialized Carriers & Riggers Association and American Rental Association). Funds have been used for further education and training including diesel mechanic degrees and CDL A licenses (a 4‐week program). Ideal also assists these employees while in school through a variety of programs to make sure they are secure financially while pursuing their dreams, with a focus on education and safety.

Yes. Light screen to gauge the interest of the candidate, and to find out basic information
What do your in-person interviews entail?
Meeting with a service manager and HR. Discussion includes the candidate's background, certifications, and what their looking to achieve in a career path
Do you perform background checks, drug screening, or personality tests before hiring an applicant?
Yes, we perform background checks on driving.
Do you perform a skill assessment before hiring an applicant? If yes, what does it entail?
No formal skill assessment. Skill assessment is done through the interview process
