What is the size of the team I’d be working with?
Our team consists of roughly 40 technicians.
What are the shop hours and what are the shift timeframes?
7:00am - 6:00pm
What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?
The dealership provides all major equipment and specialty tools. Technicians will have to provide their own hand tools
What type of break room facility is provided?
Full technician break room and locker room provided.
How many bays does your shop have?
70 bays spread across 3 shops.
How many repair orders do you average per month?
2000 repair orders per month (average now is 1989)
What is your parts ordering process?
All ordering is done in ERO (Electric Dispatching) Once repairs are approved the service advisor alerts the Technician and Parts department to proceed or ordering parts and repairs.
What is your policy on side work?
Side work can be done after working hours as long as there is a PO on the vehicle.
Do you offer any skills training or continuing education opportunities?
We highly encourage our technicians to continue building their skill set. We offer all Ford and Lincoln OEM factory training at the cost of the dealership
Can you describe opportunities for career growth at your business?
Technicians typically start out in Express or as an apprentice under a senior technician. We offer specialties that they can grow in to such as transmissions, engine, or diesel.
Can you describe your performance review process?
We have quarterly performance reviews.
What type of safety training is required?
OSHA safety training is provided to our technicians
Can you describe how Techs work with and mentor younger techs?
Our tech leads are very hands-on. It is a very collaborative environment. They will be available to answer questions and work together through repairs when time permits
How does your shop get involved with the local community?
Our company participates in a lot of various philanthropies from Tech School scholarships, to volunteering at the Ronald McDonald house to participating in various food drives throughout the year.
Do you do anything with local high schools or tech schools to encourage more students to enter the profession?
We actively recruit for and employ technicians from local high schools and tech schools. Many of our technicians come from schools like Maxwell High School, Cross Keys High School, Gwinnett Technical College and Chattahoochee Technical College.
Do you phone screen applicants before doing in-person interviews?
Yes we do. Light screen with basic questions to gauge the candidate's interest
What do your in-person interviews entail?
In-person interviews typically involve a 30-60 minute meeting with our service director and shop manager. Conversation includes the candidates' backgrounds, skill set, and career goals
Do you perform background checks, drug screening, or personality tests before hiring an applicant?
Yes, all three.
Do you perform a skill assessment before hiring an applicant? If yes, what does it entail?
No, we do not. Skill assessment is done through the interview process
After an in-person interview, approximately how long should I expect to wait for a rejection or an offer?
A day or two.
Approximately how long does the full hiring process take from submitting the application to the time of the hiring decision?
The entire process takes around two weeks.
Automotive Technician
Pay Range: $16.00 - $50.00/hour
Tech pay starts out at $16 hourly and works up to $50/hr flat rate. Pay will be based on experience, certifications, and skill set
