Is the shop heated? Air conditioned?

Yes, Our heat comes from a EPA approved waste oil heater with a Propane back up. We keep the shop at 68-72 degrees in the winter. For the Summer we use a 25 ton AC Unit that pulls the humidity out of the air and can keep at 75 degrees. Yes it feels great in the summer!!!!!

1 Manager/Service Advisor 2 Service Advisors 3 Technicians 1 General Service

What are the shop hours and what are the shift timeframes?

Monday - Friday 7:00am to 5:00pm (We are closed Saturday and Sunday) 1 hour for lunch 1 hour for breaks 6 Paid holidays 5 vacation days after the first year then 1 additional weeks of vacation added for every 5 years after that up to 4 weeks. 3 PTO days for the first year of hire then 1 day added each year up to 7 days.

What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?

Everything, except for hand tools and basic scan tools so that all the techs have their own favorite scanners. We have a program where you pick out the tool you want to have as your own and the shop pays for it and lets you pay it back a few dollars each week (you can also use your tool bonuses to help pay for the scanner you want) .

What type of break room facility is provided?

Full break room with TV/PC/ refrigerator, microwave, Keurig, toaster, sink, utensils, plates, snacks, drinks, Nice chairs and tables.

How many bays does your shop have?

10 AC and heated bays plus a 11th bay for our ADAS system

How many repair orders do you average per month?

We look to book each tech with 3 vehicles a day with an average of 3-4 hours sold per RO for the opportunity for you to run 9-10 hours a day.

What is your parts ordering process?

The parts ordering process is all done by the service advisors after the authorization has been obtained from the client. Top level new parts are sourced, no client supplied parts are allowed. 50% of the new parts are OE

What is your policy on side work?

You can work on your own stuff at the shop.

Do you offer any skills training or continuing education opportunities?

• We train formally 10 times a year, we train informally every day. • We will pay you to go to training with comp time • You are able to grow yourself to stay up to date and current plus be ready for the future.

Our performance review process is ongoing a team effort and looks for employees doing things right, that care about growing and being part of a team.

What type of safety training is required?

Basic safety training is performed at the onboarding process of orientation then on going after that.Everyone is a safety officer and has the power to stop any unsafe practice at any time.

Can you describe how Techs work with and mentor younger techs?

Our apprentice technicians are assigned to the shop Forman as a point of contact and then are rotated through the shop with all technicians to learn as many different viewpoints as possible. We take on one at a time and the internship will last at least 2 years.

How does your shop get involved with the local community?

We have contacts with community outreach programs, school actives support ,church support programs

Do you do anything with local high schools or tech schools to encourage more students to enter the profession?

We are an active member of the Collin County Community College Technical Trades for automotive program and a founding member of the advisory committee for this program. We participated in the schools ASE accreditation application and inspection process as well.

Is there anything else you’d like to mention about career development and community?

The policies are in place. We have the means and resources to provide training that you want to be a the top of the game as long as you have the desire to succeed.

Do you phone screen applicants before doing in-person interviews?

Yes we do perform a pre screening and will arrange for a phone call to talk about employment questions.

What do your in-person interviews entail?

Once an applicant is invited to an in person interview it is really all about us getting to know more about each other. It is a great opportunity for the applicant to ask questions and let us know what they expect from us and what we can expect from them. Often we will have lunch together.

Do you perform background checks, drug screening, or personality tests before hiring an applicant?

Yes, we do background checks and drug screening.

Do you perform a skill assessment before hiring an applicant? If yes, what does it entail?

We do have a hand on skills assessment for all positions.

After an in-person interview, approximately how long should I expect to wait for a rejection or an offer?

The right person can be hired in just a few days.

Lube Technician Pay Range: $35,360.00 - $52,000.00/year

What's your outlook for 2025 in the shop? The reports are saying 2025 may be one of the best years for an automotive technician. If that is true what are your thoughts (be nice) on how many vehicles verse hours run will we see. Or what would you rather do? I like the work on less vehicles but run more hours.

Who staying in the shop? I have been reading that 2025 ls shaping up to be a great year for the automotive service and repair industry. Less people are wanting to invest $50 to $90k for a new ride and most will opt to keep their 8 to 15 year old vehicles on the road. This is a huge opportunity for all of us to provide killer inspections for our clients so they get a true understanding of the condition of their car or truck. If a new vehicle purchase is going to set them back $800 to over $1000 a month or $9600 to $12,000 a year then all of a sudden it may make sense to put $2000 to $5000 a year into the vehicle they already have. Even if it needed a motor, trans or battery (EV) needed to be replaced at $15 to 25K it may be worth it to be able to drive another 2 years and have no car payments or full coverage insurance requirements from a bank. Picture of a 2022 F150 for $72K!
