What is the size of the team I’d be working with?
currently we have 8 main shop techs and 4 express techs
What are the shop hours and what are the shift timeframes?
Shop hours are Monday - Saturday 8-5 Closed on Sundays 5 day work week
What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?
All electronic diagnostic tools, and any manufacturer specific tools.
What type of break room facility is provided?
Locker rooms and break rooms, break room includes tables, chairs, fridge, microwave and coffee maker
How many bays does your shop have?
19 regular bays, 1 alignment bay and 2 bays for express
How many repair orders do you average per month?
1000 - 1100 average per month
What is your parts ordering process?
Order turn around is usually 1-2 business days depending on the time of day the order is placed.
What is your policy on side work?
Our processes seek to keep technicians booked at max capacity. Personal and immediate family vehicles are considered on a case-by-case basis, and at managements discretion
Do you offer any skills training or continuing education opportunities?
Shop pays for completed and passed ASEs. Shop pays for MFG training both on site and off premise including : Travel, Lodging, Food, and time at class.
Can you describe opportunities for career growth at your business?
Our mission statement is Growth Powered By People! How far you go depends on you and your drive. We have had many techs become service advisors and service managers.
Can you describe your performance review process?
Monthly performance reviews happen with Service Manager and Shop Foreman. Also developmental meetings happen throughout the year to keep technicians advancing at an appropriate pace.
What type of safety training is required?
Initial safety training is completed at hire and then yearly through Cleveland Auto Dealers Association.
Can you describe how Techs work with and mentor younger techs?
Apprentice techs are matched up with a senior master tech and they continue working with that tech, mirroring their schedule, until they are able to be on their own
How does your shop get involved with the local community?
Cascade is involved with many community events throughout the year in the Akron / Cleveland area.
Do you do anything with local high schools or tech schools to encourage more students to enter the profession?
We work directly with Stark State
Do you phone screen applicants before doing in-person interviews?
Yes, a little discussion about their resume and background, but more about if the technician fits the mold of what they are looking for.
What do your in-person interviews entail?
This is done with the Service Manager, we go into more detail about their background and certifications. We also talk more about the technician as an individual. Things like hobbies and family.
Do you perform background checks, drug screening, or personality tests before hiring an applicant?
Background and drug tests are done. With the background check it is more to make sure that they have a valid driver's license so they can be insured and drive a vehicle.
Do you perform a skill assessment before hiring an applicant? If yes, what does it entail?
Yes, it usually takes about 15 minutes to complete.
After an in-person interview, approximately how long should I expect to wait for a rejection or an offer?
Usually between 24-48 hours unless otherwise discussed during the interview
Approximately how long does the full hiring process take from submitting the application to the time of the hiring decision?
4 to 5 days depending on how quickly
A Level Technician
Pay Range: $35.00 - $39.00/hour
Base rate is $35.00 per hour and can go up to $39.00 per hour based on incentive bonuses
B Level Technician
Pay Range: $30.00 - $33.00/hour
Base rate is $30.00 per hour and can go up to $33.00 per hour based on incentive bonuses
C Level Technician
Pay Range: $25.00 - $27.50/hour
Base rate is $25.00 per hour and can go up to $27.50 per hour based on incentive bonuses
Lube/Express Tech
Pay Range: $35,000.00 - $39,000.00/hour
Hourly Entry level technician able to perform L.O.F. and minor maintenance. On the job training provided.
