Under The Hood

Is the shop heated? Air conditioned?

We have multiple large big ass fans to circulate air and an insulated roof to moderate temperature.

What is the size of the team I’d be working with?

We keep a team of 9 technicians and 3 hourly techs for a total of 12 service members. We have 3 Advisors as well as a BDC agent to bring in business and 4 parts personnel.

What are the shop hours and what are the shift timeframes?

We are open 8-5 Monday through Friday and 8-2 on Saturdays. Saturday rotation comes once every 8 weeks and we give our techs the option of taking the following Monday or Friday off to have a 3-day weekend following the Saturday work day.

What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?

We have all of the required tools that GM requires to be an active dealership. Including specialty tools, lifts, etc.

What type of break room facility is provided?

We have 2 kitchens/ breakrooms with a conference room as well. Our kitchens our equipped with refrigerator/freezer as well as microwave ovens and sinks.

How many bays does your shop have?

We have a total of 22 bays which equates to 2 bays per technicians and 1 bay for hourly.

How many repair orders do you average per month?

We write over 750 repair orders per month. with 65% being nonwarranty.

What is your parts ordering process?

We have 4 parts personnel to handle all parts ordering. We receive a daily stock order with the ability to overnight parts.

What is your policy on side work?

We allow Technicians to work only on immediate family member's vehicles.

Are there any other unique features of the work environment worth noting?

Cadillac is a highline brand with a high success rate of up sales for maintenance and repair work.

Do you offer any skills training or continuing education opportunities?

We pay for training both in-house and hands-on. We also provide vehicles to drive to away training as well as Hotel and food perdium. We also pay for ASE certifications and offer quarterly bonuses of up to $1500.00 for training completion.

Can you describe opportunities for career growth at your business?

We have 5 Franchises in our group and have promoted many technicians to shop foreman as well as management positions.

Can you describe your performance review process?

We review our employees once a year with ongoing reviews as needed for performance and training evaluations.

What type of safety training is required?

We have safety training on equipment operation for OSHA requirements as well as GM requirements.

Can you describe how Techs work with and mentor younger techs?

We work with our local technical college to mentor and hire young techs to CO OP or work full-time at our dealerships. Many of these are placed with technicians as helpers to learn the craft. The technician benefits from the added hours while mentoring and growing these individuals for success.

How does your shop get involved with the local community?

We serve on the advisory board for the local technical college as well as donate parts and vehicles for training. We also engage with our local community in many ways to support the groups and organizations we hold dear.

Do you do anything with local high schools or tech schools to encourage more students to enter the profession?

Yes, we support Tennessee Career Technical College as well as several automotive vocational programs at our local high schools.

Where do you see the shop in five years?

We are the only Cadillac dealer in a 100-mile radius as of 03/2022, so I envision the growth of this particular shop to be very rapid over the next 5 years. We are also developing in the Electric division as well.

Do you have an application form and how long does it typically take to complete?

We have an online application form or we can email to potential employees which takes about 15 minutes to complete.

Do you phone screen applicants before doing in-person interviews?

Depending on the situation and location of the potential employee

What do your in-person interviews entail?

Discussing the individual's goals and desires as well as the companies. Also determining the aptitude and skill level of the potential employee to better suit a successful outcome.

Do you perform background checks, drug screening, or personality tests before hiring an applicant?

We do check for valid license and insurability as well as perform drug tests on applicants if they are selected for hiring.

Do you perform a skill assessment before hiring an applicant? If yes, what does it entail?

No, other than talking about that during the interview process

After an in-person interview, approximately how long should I expect to wait for a rejection or an offer?

Typically it takes about 5 to 10 days to complete.

Approximately how long does the full hiring process take from submitting the application to the time of the hiring decision?

The time will vary according to the location of the potential hire, but should not take over 30 days at max, and will be shorter for local applicants.

A Level Technician Pay Range: $75,000.00 - $125,000.00/year

We pay an hourly rate as well as production bonuses and quarterly training bonuses.

B Level Technician Pay Range: $50,000.00 - $75,000.00/year

We pay an hourly rate as well as production bonuses and quarterly training bonuses.

Lube Technician Pay Range: $28,000.00 - $38,000.00/year

We pay an hourly rate as well as spiff bonuses and quarterly training bonuses

C Level Technician Pay Range: $40,000.00 - $60,000.00/year

We pay an hourly rate as well as production bonuses and quarterly training bonuses

Student Tech / Apprentice Pay Range: $15.00 - $18.00/hour

We pay an hourly rate as well as spiff bonuses and quarterly training bonuses

We also have team-building events for employees such as Top Golf, Ax Throwing, and Bowling to name a few. We offer a cruise contest, where we take employees and spouses on a 5-day cruise with pay. This includes all team members Advisors and Technicians.
