Is the shop heated? Air conditioned?

Our shop has built-in gas Heaters We currently have no A/C Tech's uses swamp coolers.

What is the size of the team I’d be working with?

Our Bruner GM Service team consists of around 20-25 employees.

What are the shop hours and what are the shift timeframes?

Monday-Friday 7:30 a.m.- 6:00 p.m. Saturday 7:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?

Special Tools/required GM tools/lifts etc..

What type of break room facility is provided?

Air-conditioned GM Service break room.

How many bays does your shop have?

23 bays

How many repair orders do you average per month?

600-700 work orders per month.

What is your parts ordering process?

Parts are ordered by the parts team with recommendations from technicians using our Dealer-FX quoting software as well as customer approval from the service writer.

What is your policy on side work?

Side work is not permitted using Bruner Motors Inc. facility. Employees may repair their own vehicles or close relatives with management approval.

Do you offer any skills training or continuing education opportunities?

Here at Bruner Motors Inc. we offer continuing education for technicians through GM Center of Learning center. Additionally, we hold quarterly safety meetings; as well as online safety training through our KPA Platform.

Can you describe opportunities for career growth at your business?

Over our 50+ years at Bruner Motors Inc. we have had multiple technicians that have started in entry-level positions and have been able to work all the way to master achievement level. Some of these employees have developed into other management paths within our companies.

Can you describe your performance review process?

We review our technician performance annually and adjust based on hours produced/performance and work available to technicians.

What type of safety training is required?

Quarterly safety meetings are held with shop employees including service advisors, technicians, and supporting staff. Self-studies are also available and encouraged through our KPA platform.

Can you describe how Techs work with and mentor younger techs?

Our master techs are open to helping our younger techs/new to our business personnel when they have ample time. Younger techs are placed with master technicians when the technician has shown progression and the ability to perform at top levels in their current position. (Depending on the availability of apprentice positions).

How does your shop get involved with the local community?

Bruner Motors Inc. is involved through our local chamber and with other local businesses. We provide support to our community through local events and sponsorships.

Do you do anything with local high schools or tech schools to encourage more students to enter the profession?

We have assisted in training GM Asep program technicians into master technicians and, support our local high school job fair events/development programs.

Do you phone screen applicants before doing in-person interviews?

Yes, we do conduct phone calls before in-person interviews.

What do your in-person interviews entail?

We want to get to know your level of experience and what part of the job you excel in, the goal is to get a feel of what you do best!

Do you perform background checks, drug screening, or personality tests before hiring an applicant?

Yes, we conduct both background checks and drug screenings.

Do you perform a skill assessment before hiring an applicant? If yes, what does it entail?

No, we have a 90-day probationary period after the hiring process where we evaluate performance.

After an in-person interview, approximately how long should I expect to wait for a rejection or an offer?

Service Technician Pay Range: $40,000.00 - $80,000.00/year ($19.23 - $38.46/hr)

Technician pay structures are based on a flag rate compensation plan. We, Utilizing flag rate plans with scaled compensation that increases the technician pay based on hours book for a weekly time frame. Basically the more hours ran for the week. The more you earn per hour.

Master Service Technician Pay Range: $65,000.00 - $125,000.00/year ($31.25 - $60.10/hr)

Technician pay structures are based on a flag rate compensation plan. We, Utilizing flag rate plans with scaled compensation that increases the technician pay based on hours book for a weekly time frame. Basically the more hours ran for the week the more you earn per hour.

Lube Technicians Pay Range: $14.00 - $17.00/hour

Lube Technicians are compensated on an hourly basis with overtime and bonus money based off of multi-point recommendations.

Technician Apprentice Pay Range: $14.00 - $17.00/hour

Technician apprentice/ student technicians are compensated with straight-time hourly pay plus a weekly flag bonus based off assigned master technician.
