What are the shop hours and what are the shift timeframes?
7:30am - 4:30pm Monday - Friday Shift differentials paid for hours turned outside of regular hours
What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?
All manufacturer-specific tools are provided. As well as diagnostic software, jacks, stands, and toolboxes. Technicians are to provide their own hand tools.
What type of break room facility is provided?
Complete break room with television, refrigerators, microwaves, toaster, toaster oven, and vending machines.
How many bays does your shop have?
12 bays in Volvo Shop 12 Bays in JLR Shop 2 additional bays, and an alignment rack in the Recon building.
How many repair orders do you average per month?
JLR - 770 Volvo - 1114
What is your parts ordering process?
The technician requests parts from the Parts Department.
What is your policy on side work?
Side work is allowed after hours on Thursday nights.
Are there any other unique features of the work environment worth noting?
Electronic dispatching of ROs Shop custodian that comes in each night to clean shops and remove scrap
Do you offer any skills training or continuing education opportunities?
Manufacturer training is required. Technicians are paid for completing training.
Can you describe opportunities for career growth at your business?

Can you describe your performance review process?
Performance reviews are completed 90 days after hire, then annually in the month of hire.
What type of safety training is required?
Proper tool safety and vehicle racking procedure. Technicians must complete training and become certified by the manufacturer to work on EVs.
Can you describe how Techs work with and mentor younger techs?
Technicians are assigned a mentor when hired. Mentors bay is typically next to the new technician so that they can work 1 on 1 with the younger technician, and be available to assist and answer any questions.
How does your shop get involved with the local community?
We participate in many local and national programs and charities including, but not limited to: Soldier Strong, American Cancer Society, Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank, Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix
Do you do anything with local high schools or tech schools to encourage more students to enter the profession?
Yes. We participate in Co-Ops with local tech schools.
Do you phone screen applicants before doing in-person interviews?
Yes
What do your in-person interviews entail?
Interview with the Shop Foreman and Service Manager. 2nd interview would be to meet with the store General Manager
Do you perform background checks, drug screening, or personality tests before hiring an applicant?
Yes. Criminal background checks as well as driver record check.
Do you perform a skill assessment before hiring an applicant? If yes, what does it entail?
Skills are assessed as part of the interview process.
After an in-person interview, approximately how long should I expect to wait for a rejection or an offer?
Less than a week.
Approximately how long does the full hiring process take from submitting the application to the time of the hiring decision?

- Eligibility for health insurance can go into effect after the first day of the month following 30 days of employment. There are 2 plans available to choose from: PPO plan with an FSA or an HDHP with HSA . Costs vary based on plan chosen, and number dependents.

- Eligibility for dental insurance can go into effect after the first day of the month following 30 days of employment. Dental is offered at no cost to the employee. Costs will increase if adding dependents to the plan.

- Eligibility for vision insurance can go into effect after the first day of the month following 30 days of employment. Vision is offered at no cost to the employee. Costs will increase if adding dependents to the plan.
- Retirement Plan Offered
- After 6 months of employment employees are eligible to participate in our company matched 401k plan. The Bobby Rahal Automotive Group will match 50% of your contribution up to 4%.
- Sick Leave Offered
- 1 PTO bank for both sick and vacation time. PTO time begins accruing at 90 days. PTO time renews on hire date anniversary, and amount of time available increases with length of service.

- Paid Holidays Offered
- Holidays are paid following 90 days of employment. Paid holidays include: New Years Day, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.

- We pay warranty repairs at 120% of manufacturers posted times. You will earn banked hours to be utilized if you find that your bi-weekly hours are inefficient. You are eligible to earn hours after six months of employment, provided you are not on a guarantee at your sixth month. A full bank of 36 hours is renewed at the beginning of each calendar year.
