Is the shop heated? Air conditioned?
Our shop is well heated with a 250,000 BTU/hr Clean Burn unit. During the summer there is amazing airflow through the shop and each tech has their own personal swamp cooler provided for them.
What is the size of the team I’d be working with?
Our team is comprised of 8-9 skilled members. 4-5 Technicians 1 Service Advisor 1 Shop Manager 2 owners who work alongside the team daily.
What are the shop hours and what are the shift timeframes?
We are a family centered business and we love our free weekends and evenings for family time. We are open Monday-Friday 8-5. Everyone takes a 1 hour lunch, usually between 12-1.
What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?
Our shop has a large number of tooling and specialty tools available to use, and the list is continuely added to as needed. For versatility we have 3 scan tools, SnapOn Zeus, Autel and TopDon. We also have wheel alignment tooling, tire balancer and tire machine and a number of fluid service equipment. We have an ongoing list for supplies and tooling that techs request for specialty needs. Techs have their own hand tools and powertools.
What type of break room facility is provided?
Team members have access to a full fridge with freezer, microwave, purified water and a coffee maker with both a coffee pot and individual pods.
How many bays does your shop have?
Currently we have 7 bays. Four bays have 2 post lifts, two bays have drive on racks with access to our alignment machine and a tire changing/ balancing bay.
How many repair orders do you average per month?
175+
What is your parts ordering process?
Our front office orders parts mainly online through our software, after reviewing digital vehicle inspections with our technicians.
What is your policy on side work?
We welcome our team to work on their personal vehicles during evenings and Saturdays, but not on Sundays. You are able to purchase parts for personal vehicles. We have no problem with techs working for their friends and family on their own personal time, as long as they are not advertising or soliciting our customers, and none of this related work is done while at Beer's Automotive.
Are there any other unique features of the work environment worth noting?
Inspections are completed digitally through our POS system. Each tech has their own tablet and laptop for ease of digital vehicle inspection application as well as quick access to Mitchell 1 and Identifix.
Do you offer any skills training or continuing education opportunities?
Yes! We offer paid ASE certifications to every technician. We pay YOU to become ASE certified and increase your hourly pay based on certifications earned. We want you to reach your maximum potential and have the opportunity to become a master technician. We also offer daily training within the shop through Today's Class app, as well as paid after hour training opportunities.

Can you describe your performance review process?
Our performance reviews are an ongoing process. We aim to do quarterly reviews with an end of the year review. Beer's Automotive reviews are a two way process. We like feedback from our team members about areas our company can improve as well as those areas which we are doing well.
What type of safety training is required?
Safety concerns and issues are addressed at our weekly business development meeting.
Can you describe how Techs work with and mentor younger techs?
Our team collaborates and works together to solve solutions to difficult vehicles. We offer training resources and pay our team members to train and improve their skills. The experienced techs train the younger techs.
How does your shop get involved with the local community?
The future of America and our community is in today’s youth. Beer’s Automotive is a dedicated supporter of the Richland County 4-H, which develops a strong work ethic, and teaches time management, budgeting, and public speaking. Support has included purchasing 4-H students’ animals through the Richland County Livestock Sale Committee, animal fair barn sponsorship, and supporting local area buyers’ clubs such as Crestview, Shelby, and Plymouth.
Do you do anything with local high schools or tech schools to encourage more students to enter the profession?
We have students come from the local career school for work study.
Do you phone screen applicants before doing in-person interviews?
We have an inital zoom call interview before the in-person interview.
What do your in-person interviews entail?
This is when you view our facilities, speak with our manager and other team members who are available.
Do you perform background checks, drug screening, or personality tests before hiring an applicant?

Depends on the role being filled.

Automotive Master Technician
Pay Range: $70,000.00 - $100,000.00/year
($33.65 - $48.08/hr)
Compensation is based on your experience. Master techs receive hourly plus bonus compensation.

- We believe Christmas and vacation are important for families and personal life. Therefore we offer matching Christmas and Vacation Club packages to our team members. Vacation Club packages are paid out Memorial Day Weekend. Christmas Club packages are paid out at our annual Christmas Party the first Saturday in December.
