Technician
An automotive service technician is responsible for diagnosing and repairing vehicle issues by inspecting systems, performing diagnostic tests, replacing worn parts, and completing routine maintenance tasks like oil changes, tire rotations, and fluid level checks, all while adhering to manufacturer specifications and safety standards. Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Thoroughly inspect vehicles to identify potential problems.
- Utilize computerized diagnostic tools to pinpoint the source of vehicle malfunctions in engine, transmission, electrical, and other systems.
- Replace worn or faulty parts like brake pads, belts, hoses, spark plugs, filters, and other components as needed.
- Perform scheduled maintenance tasks including oil changes, tire rotations, battery checks, and fluid level adjustments.
- Diagnose and repair issues with engine, transmission, steering, suspension, braking, cooling, and electrical systems.
- Conduct test drives to verify repairs and assess vehicle performance.
- Maintain accurate repair records and document work performed on vehicles.
- Explain repair needs to customers, provide cost estimates, and address any customer concerns.
Requirements:
- Strong understanding of automotive mechanics, including engine operation, electrical systems, and various vehicle components.
- Proficiency in using computerized diagnostic tools to identify vehicle issues.
- Ability to use hand and power tools safely and effectively.
- Staying updated on the latest automotive technology and manufacturer specifications.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex mechanical issues and identify the root cause of problems.
- Ability to work in a physically demanding environment, including lifting heavy parts and materials.
- Valid driver's license
