POSITION FUNCTION:
The Service Technician Intern will assist our Service Department by performing applicable repairs and tasks under supervision of the Service Manager and/or designated mentor to gain hands on experience in the service industry and ensure the further development of their skills. The Service Technician Intern will focus on the specified learning areas designated by their school intern program and/or the appropriate learning areas set forth by the Vermeer Great Plains Service Department.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Service, repair, assemble and recondition equipment by applying learned skills in the following areas (if applicable):
- Preventative Maintenance
- Fluid Power and Hydraulics
- Electrical
- Power Train
- Basic Diesel/Gasoline Engine Components
- Cylinder Head and Valve Train
- Air Induction and Exhaust System
- Lubrication System
- Cooling System
- Engine Tune-Up
- Mechanical Fuel System
- Electronic Fuel System
- Electrohydraulic Controlled Systems
- Diagnose basic problems and determine what repairs are required with assistance
- Follows all safety rules and regulations as specified in Employee Handbook
- Apply other applicable skills and execute related tasks as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

- Aptitude for mechanics with excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Demonstrated safe work habits

- Strong verbal and written communication skills to communicate professionally, respectfully, and honestly always
- Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs., stand, walk, use hands and fingers, handle, feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk and hear 100% of the time
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma, or GED required
- Currently attending vocational school and/or working toward a degree in Heavy Equipment, Diesel Technology, or related field required
- Must be at least 18 years of age or older
- Valid Driver’s License required
- Background check, pre-employment drug testing and clean driving record required
