Apprentice Technician

Raymond West is looking for Apprentice Technicians that are eager to learn to join our growing team! Generally, the Field Service Apprentice shadows Field Service Technicians to learn repair and safety procedures from experienced technicians. The Apprentice will be assigned to various territories to work with other technicians as necessary. Once training has progressed to an acceptable level, the Apprentice will be assigned to fill in for technicians when they are absent for vacation or other leaves. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: • Update training and skills on a continuing basis. • Follow all Field Service Department procedures. • Communicate with assigned District Service Manager. • Complete all paperwork transactions in a timely, neat, accurate and orderly fashion. • Communicate all options to customers before proceeding with work. • Perform light repair and scheduled service work. • Maintain productivity standards set forth by Service management. • Maintain a minimum tool list. • Complete jobs within quoted time limits when applicable. • Perform complete, excellent Scheduled maintenance as prescribed by the Field Service Department. • Document all needed repairs on customer's equipment. • Maintain a clean and orderly service vehicle, inside and outside. • Maintain an accurate assigned parts inventory, if applicable. • Represent the Company positively in all situations • Fill in for other Techs when assigned to do so by Field Service Department. • Pass Raymond Basic Certification within 6 months and achieve other certifications as opportunities are presented. • Maintain good working knowledge of customers and equipment in assigned areas. • Maintain an acceptable driving record as established by RHSI’s insurance company. • Report all accidents regardless of fault or cause. • Account for 100% of available time during working hours. • Must be willing to work overtime when necessary. • Must coordinate all overtime with assigned supervisor. • Must follow all procedures in Employee Handbook. • Must follow safety procedures and exercise good judgment with regard to safety. • Must be willing to work out of town as necessary. • Establish a positive rapport with customers. • Perform other specific duties and projects as assigned by the Field Service Supervisor or Managers. • Must be able to fulfill essential job function in a consistent state of alertness and safe manner. QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. • Must be self motivated and able to manage time efficiently. • Must be customer focused. • Able to exhibit professional behavior at all times. • Willing to follow mandates and procedures of the Field Service Department. • Self starter. • Ability to deal with customers on a face to face basis. • Maintain a sound working relationship with other technicians and fellow workers. • Possess good organizational skills. • Must pass all available certifications appropriate to the position. • Have working knowledge of and familiarity with personal computers, MS Windows or similar system, familiarity with internet and email functions. Must be able to use a keyboard to enter data accurately. • Some working knowledge of basic D.C. electricity, basic A.C. electricity, SCR, wire guidance, internal combustion engines, transistor, microprocessor. • Must be able to take direction. • Must be able to communicate effectively by telephone, in writing, and in person. • Must be a team player, and able to work with peers. • Possess sound working knowledge of hydraulic systems. • Possess sound mechanical abilities. • Able to organize efficiently. • Must maintain a clean, neat and professional appearance. • Able to work in conjunction with other departments as needed. • Willing and able to learn quickly and perform accurately and neatly with a degree of flexibility. • Motivated to continuous self development and training. • Willing to assume more responsibility as required. • Must be able to fulfill essential job function in a consistent state of alertness and safe manner. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and six months related training in a trade school or related hands-on repair.
