The Shop Foreman is a leadership role whose primary responsibility is to  ensure the shop produces the best quality work possible in an expeditious manner. This is accomplished by assisting the Shop Manager with effectively assigning work to the appropriate technician, coaching and mentoring technicians, assisting with the completion of repairs, and performing diagnostics at a master level.

Responsibilities
  • Implementation and effective execution of a successful quality control process is a top priority
  • In partnership with Shop Manager, assign repairs and services to technicians to ensure the highest level of production
  • Answer technicians’ questions and help them move past obstacles towards completing repairs and services
  • Must be a Master Level Expert in the craft
  • Must maintain standards of excellence, integrity, and precision for each technician and every repair they complete
  • Must have an in-depth knowledge of how to inspect vehicles, identify concerns, and quote needed repairs and services
  • The Foreman acts as a manager, mentor, and coach to technicians by effectively achieving the following:
    • Helping them complete difficult repairs
    • Increasing their efficiency
    • Assisting with diagnostics
    • Providing direction in difficult situations
    • Managing technician performance
Qualifications
  • 10 or more years of practical experience working as a service technician in a dealership setting
  • Demonstrated success mentoring and leading an effective and cohesive team
  • Master-Level knowledge of passenger automobile workings and systems
  • Master-Level knowledge and skill in passenger automobile diagnostics to include:
    • Using a diagnostic tree
    • Performing testing procedures to discover cause of malfunctions
    • Knowing how to repair malfunctions
  • Master-Level knowledge, ability, and skill in performing mechanical repairs and services, including removing and reinstalling of parts to complete service procedures
  • Master-Level Knowledge and skill in performing thorough inspections for the purpose of determining needed service and repairs based on the miles and condition of the vehicle
  • Ability to clearly communicate with others verbally and in various written forms
  • Integrity and honesty are absolute requirements
  • Excellent communication skills with a track record as an effective active listener
  • Effectively model and reinforce company Core Values and Mission Statement
  • Ability to type and utilize all functions of a computer and various operating programs
  • Efficiency using Microsoft Suite Programs such as: Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug screen and subsequent random drug screens
