Main Line Technician (A, B, and C Levels)
The Main Line Auto Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a variety of vehicles, focusing on major mechanical and electrical systems. This role requires advanced technical expertise, efficiency, and a commitment to high-quality service. The technician is expected to handle complex repairs and ensure customer vehicles are returned in safe and optimal condition.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
Diagnose and perform repairs on engines, transmissions, drivetrains, suspensions, brakes, electrical systems, and other major vehicle components
Conduct vehicle inspections and routine maintenance including oil changes, fluid checks, and tire rotations
Use diagnostic equipment and technical manuals to identify problems accurately
Work efficiently to meet dealership productivity standards and repair deadlines
Communicate clearly with service advisors about diagnostics, repair options, and timelines
Maintain accurate records of services performed using shop software systems
Ensure all repairs meet dealership and manufacturer quality standards
Stay current on training and certifications required by the manufacturer or dealership
Keep work area clean and organized and comply with all safety regulations
Education Requirements:
High school diploma or GED (automotive trade school preferred)
ASE Certification(s) preferred or willingness to become certified
Minimum 3-5 years of experience as an automotive technician, preferably in a dealership or high-volume shop
Proficient in using diagnostic tools and software
Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in various physical positions
Work Environment:
Fast-paced automotive repair shop
Exposure to automotive fluids, noise, and machinery
May be required to work weekends or extended hours during peak times
