Trailer Mechanic

XTRA Lease is the leader in the truck-trailer rental industry in North America. We’re not truckers, but we’re proud to support the transportation industry. For more than 50 years, our team has focused on providing “the box” to trucking companies that supply manufacturing plants, grocery stores, and distribution centers with the products used in daily life. And as a subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway, we have the financial backing to support our customers, and give our employees a level of stability that’s hard to beat.

What makes our Trailer Mechanic position unique?

  • Diagnosing, servicing, and repairing all XTRA Lease equipment as indicated on repair orders and consistent with XTRA Lease repair standards.
  • Performing safety and legally required inspections (FHWA/BIT).
  • Maintaining parts and yard organization (with direction from operations management) to ensure a clean and safe working environment.

XTRA Lease mechanics work in a small team environment with lots of independence. They inspect and repair only semi-trailers: dry vans, refrigerated vans, and flatbeds- no prior diesel technician experience required. XTRA provides uniforms and PPE, but your workspace and tools are yours to manage. With no shop foreman, you'll partner closely with your Operations Manager to manage your training and workload. Once you've mastered our repair standards, you'll enjoy a more independent work environment with your team ready to help whenever you need them.
