Automotive Service Technician Responsibilities

  • Service vehicles in a timely manner for routine scheduled maintenance in accordance with dealer and manufacturer recommendations
  • Diagnose and identify necessary repairs
  • Perform approved repairs to manufacturer and customer specifications
  • Ability to plan work procedures, using workshop manuals, and experience
  • Ability to communicate with the supervisor on a regular basis about work performed, necessary changes to approved repairs, or any other concerns related to the repair or maintenance of a vehicle
  • Follow checklists to ensure that all critical parts are examined
  • Experience in the use of computerized diagnostic equipment
  • Produce legible and accurate reporting to reflect performed work
  • Participate in paid manufacturer training
  • Maintain a clean working environment on the automotive service floor
  • Follow all safety requirements to comply with company policies, local and federal regulations
  • Explain automotive problems and repairs to Service Advisors and/or clients
  • Other duties as assigned

Automotive Service Technician Qualifications

  • Ford certification and/or ASE Certification strongly preferred
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers and company personnel
  • Ability to pass all pre-employment testing including background check and drug screening
